I, too, am drawn to decay. For similar reasons.

Have you ever been to Havana, Cuba? My goodness, there is gorgeous decay there.

Have fun in Knoxville!

I haven’t. But I want to. Just to see the cars if nothing else!

I love old tree stumps. They have a story.

Andrea Hoffmann's avatar

They surely do.

They are pictures of a life lived.

Sometimes many lives.

Yes! Same same is boring boring. Love your barn photo with the moody sky.

Thanks, Angela. I randomly pulled over in the middle of nowhere to shoot that. I love it, too, and now it's my screensaver.

I remember a quote from Maurice Chevalier years ago comparing older women to a fine aged wine. Ever so much more beautiful and valuable.

I support this thinking! :)

I found the juxtaposition of this in Santorini particularly delightful. Brand new perfectly painted buildings here and there next to ones that look like they’ve not been touched in a century. You?

Mainly, I was just trying to not fall ass over tea kettle down those paths! :) But, yes, I agree. Europe is magical for the juxtaposition of the shiny new vs. the lovely ruins.

Can I just tell you how much I love the fact that you said ass over tea kettle? I flippin love saying that.

Beautifully written and thank you for the photos. I also love decay in certain light and from just the right angle. I often wonder about the lives these buildings housed. If it was happy or full hard scrabble strife, like the picture. Thanks, peace ✌️ Packy Paules

I'm the same... the wondering of what went on and with whom... I love all the ways it could have unfolded... the endless permutations. Glad you enjoyed it, Packy!
